These names constitute the Board of Trustees. The general membership comprises of Ulama from across the country forming a council, which includes the Board.
The purpose is to create and provide a common platform for all the Ulama in guiding the Muslims of New Zealand as one Community. The main objectives are to promote religious and educational advancement, to propagate and uphold Islam, and to educate and develop a true understanding of Islam amongst the New Zealand community etc.
The formation of UCNZ will enable any directives and guidance from the Ulama to be centralized and uniform thereby supporting and enhancing the existing unity.
UCNZ does not seek to compete with any other Muslim organization nor does it expect any antagonism from other organizations or individuals, rather, it seeks to complement the good efforts by others and cooperate in matters of ‘birr and taqwa’ as per the Quranic injunction.
The UCNZ held a meeting earlier this month to progress its administrative framework and hereby we are pleased to announce the following appointments:
In addition to these positions and the confirmation of the general membership of the Ulama, Sheikh Mohammad Amir was appointed the spokesperson for the UCNZ, and Sh. Khalil Nadat 1st assistant.
We beseech help and guidance from Allah Azza wa Jall and look forward to striving towards fulfilling our aims and objectives with your kind cooperation.
